Hello and welcome. I’m Avinder Laroya a dispute resolution solicitor, accredited mediator and arbitrator, entrepreneur, mentor, and conflict systems specialist.

For over 20 years, I have worked at the intersection of law, business, and human behaviour, supporting individuals, founders, boards, and organisations through some of their most complex and high-stakes moments. My work is grounded in one core belief: conflict, when handled thoughtfully, can become a catalyst for better decisions, stronger relationships, and sustainable change.

Where My Work Began

I didn’t come to dispute resolution because I enjoy conflict.
I came to it because, early in my career, I saw how much damage unresolved conflict quietly causes to businesses, to relationships, and to people’s confidence and wellbeing.

As a young solicitor, I was trained to focus on rights, remedies, and outcomes. But it quickly became clear that most disputes were not truly about the law. They were about fear, miscommunication, power, identity, and unspoken expectations. By the time parties reached court, positions had hardened, costs had escalated, and relationships were often beyond repair.

That realisation shaped the direction of my career.

Legal Practice & Dispute Resolution Expertise

I am a triple-qualified legal professional with more than two decades of experience advising on commercial, corporate, and cross-border disputes. I am known for a calm, pragmatic, and commercially grounded approach, particularly in matters involving high emotional or financial risk.

My experience includes:

-
Commercial and contractual disputes
-
Shareholder, partnership, and founder conflicts
-
Professional services and consultancy disputes
-
Workplace and organisational conflict
-
ESG, governance, and stakeholder disputes
-
Cross-border and multi-jurisdictional matters

I work with disputes at every stage from early risk assessment and negotiation through to mediation, arbitration, and litigation strategy always with a focus on proportionality, efficiency, and long-term impact.

Seeing the System from the Inside

Alongside my client work, I spent over a decade owning and managing a regulated law firm, holding senior compliance roles including COLP, COFA, and MLRO. That experience gave me first-hand insight into the realities of leadership: managing risk, regulation, cashflow, people, and decision-making under pressure.

It also gave me deep empathy for founders and leaders who are expected to carry conflict quietly, while still steering their organisations forward.

This is why my work today is not just about resolving disputes it is about designing better systems for handling conflict before it escalates.

Mediator, Arbitrator & Conflict Resolver

Becoming a mediator and arbitrator was not a departure from legal practice, but a natural evolution of it.
As a certified mediator and arbitrator, I bring a rare dual perspective understanding both advocacy and neutrality.
This allows me to:
-
See all sides of a conflict with clarity and balance
-
Design dispute resolution strategies tailored to the people and context involved
-
Create safe, confidential spaces for dialogue and decision-making
-
Help parties move beyond entrenched positions toward durable agreements

My mediation practice is informed by behavioural science, emotional intelligence, and conflict psychology, recognising that disputes are rarely just legal problems they are human ones.

Founding Minute Mediation

I founded Minute Mediation to create a different kind of conflict resolution practice one that is strategic, human-centred, and forward-looking.

Minute Mediation supports:
-
Founders and business owners navigating breakdowns in trust
-
SMEs and professional service firms managing internal or external disputes
-
NGOs and mission-driven organisations facing stakeholder or governance tensions
-
Individuals who know their conflict is legal but also deeply personal

The practice operates internationally, with a strong emphasis on cross-cultural awareness and proportional dispute management.

Mentor, Coach & Educator

As my work evolved, so did my focus on mentoring, coaching, and education.

I work closely with professionals, leaders, and entrepreneurs particularly women who are capable and ambitious, yet often unsupported when it comes to navigating difficult conversations, boundaries, and power dynamics.

Through workshops, masterclasses, and programmes such as the Conflict Decoder Program and the Conflict Science Tool, I help individuals and teams:

-
Communicate with clarity and confidence
-
Navigate conflict without avoidance or aggression
-
Set boundaries while preserving relationships
-
Make better decisions under pressure

My work bridges law, leadership, emotional regulation, and strategic communication.

Sectors & Clients

Over the years, I have advised:

-
Individuals and family-owned businesses
-
SMEs and scale-ups
-
Multinational corporations
-
NGOs and international organisations

Across sectors including:

-

-
Technology and innovation
-
Property and real estate
-
International trade
-

Each engagement is approached with respect, discretion, and adaptability.

My Philosophy

To me, dispute resolution is not simply about settlement.

It is about:
-
Giving each party a genuine voice
-
Preserving dignity and agency
-
Reducing future risk by addressing root causes
-
Creating outcomes people can move forward from

I believe conflict is inevitable but escalation is not.
Handled well, conflict can strengthen leadership, improve systems, and create space for growth.

Working With Me

If you are navigating a dispute, leading through uncertainty, or seeking a more effective way to manage conflict legally, commercially, or personally I would be honoured to support you.

Whether acting as a solicitor, mediator, arbitrator, mentor, or strategic advisor, my role is to help you move forward with clarity, confidence, and peace of mind.

Sincerely,

Avinder Laroya
